Interferential therapy is an accepted therapy modality whereby low frequency electrical signals – below 250 hertz (1 Hz = 1 cycle per second) is used across tissue to illicit a therapeutic effect. The patient may feel a ‘tingling’ effect as this is applied.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″ offset=”vc_col-lg-6 vc_col-md-12 vc_col-xs-12″][vc_single_image image=”1167″ img_size=”1000×531″ css=”.vc_custom_1505120764254{margin-bottom: 35px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column el_class=”s2s-divider-padding”][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#1cbc45″ css=”.vc_custom_1490089461036{margin-bottom: 0px !important;padding-top: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”vc_default” el_class=”s2s-bottom-padding”][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-4 vc_col-md-12 vc_col-xs-12″][ultimate_heading main_heading=”What is it good for?” alignment=”left” main_heading_style=”font-weight:bold;” sub_heading_font_size=”desktop:14px;” sub_heading_line_height=”desktop:28px;” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:20px;” main_heading_font_size=”desktop:24px;” main_heading_line_height=”desktop:30px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_column_text]

  • Pain relief
  • Muscle stimulation
  • Increased blood flow
  • Reduction of oedema (swelling)
  • Promotion of healing
  • Restoration of healing

By employing alternative settings for more chronic conditions, interferential can be used to activate the body’s natural opiod mechanisms, again providing a degree of pain relief.

Muscle Stimulation Stimulation of motor nerves can be achieved with a wide range of frequencies with interferential, for example, at 1Hz; the result is a series of twitches, and at 50Hz the result is a tetanic contraction.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column el_class=”s2s-divider-padding”][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#1cbc45″ css=”.vc_custom_1490089469962{margin-bottom: 0px !important;padding-top: 0px !important;padding-bottom: 0px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”vc_default” el_class=”s2s-bottom-padding”][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-8 vc_col-md-12 vc_col-xs-12″][ultimate_heading main_heading=”How many treatments are usually used?” alignment=”left” main_heading_style=”font-weight:bold;” sub_heading_font_size=”desktop:14px;” sub_heading_line_height=”desktop:28px;” main_heading_margin=”margin-bottom:20px;” main_heading_font_size=”desktop:24px;” main_heading_line_height=”desktop:30px;”][/ultimate_heading][vc_column_text]

  • Time Treatment times can vary according to the stage of injury and the physiological effect required. Usually, at the initial stages in the acute phase, treatments of 5–10 minutes may be sufficient.
  • In other circumstances for more chronic conditions, treatment times of 20-30 minutes may be necessary.

A course of about 12 treatments should be sufficient to resolve a condition. In Chronic long standing conditions more treatments may be required.
